Pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree is a pivotal step in my career, enhancing my tools for advocacy and representation, particularly in support of the small business community. Over time, I have cultivated a diverse professional background in business development and consultancy, providing a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the public sector. The combination of education, experience, and a passion for community service forms the foundation of my success in my varied roles so far.

 

My career has been marked by roles that have allowed me to make tangible impacts on small businesses and community initiatives. As the Director of the Small Business Development Center at Troy University, I have facilitated business growth and advocated for small business needs. My consultancy work has further strengthened my ability to provide strategic guidance and support to diverse business ventures. The MPA degree significantly influences my career path by providing the theoretical and practical tools necessary to excel in public administration. It equips me with advanced knowledge in governance, policy analysis, and public management, which are essential for effective leadership in the public sector.

 

In the short term, I aim to continue developing supplemental projects that connect the University with the community, fostering meaningful relationships between both parties. A primary objective is establishing the Institute for Economic Empowerment under the Sorrell College of Business. This institute will create a replicable and scalable model using entrepreneurship as a practical means for economic mobility. In the long term, I aspire to ascend to a significant leadership position at the state level, such as Secretary of Commerce. In this role, I plan to influence economic policy and development, ensuring that public resources are used efficiently and equitably to foster sustainable growth and community well-being.

 

Throughout my career, I have adhered to core professional values guiding my actions and decisions. Integrity drives me to maintain transparency, honesty, and ethical standards in all professional interactions. Accountability ensures I take responsibility for my actions and use public resources effectively and ethically.
